Michael:
With a baby boy, there really aren't too many ways one can go wrong
with fashion as long as you're avoiding pink and not dressing your
twin (or close-in-age) boys exactly the same every day. Baby girls
are different, though. You want your baby girl to look good--not
dorky, sloppy, or boyish, you know? So when my wife came home with
some really ugly baby shoes for the baby girl one day--her very
first shoes, I cringed. This could be a bumpy ride. |
Anne:
Most people realize that a baby's first shoes should be
sturdy, a little higher around the ankle for support on wobbly legs.
These shoes I bought for our baby girl were like everyone's first
shoes... the leather, lace-up kind. You know, the ones our grandmas
bronzed! These special shoes I chose, though, did have pretty pink
and green flowers embroidered on the ankle part. They were very
girly, yet sturdy. Michael couldn't help but comment about her "boots"
every time I put them on her--and they weren't boots.
As
far as fashion is concerned, I agree with Michael. Dressing kids
alike too much is sorta dorky. I like to let the kids show their
own personalities and not be clones of each other. When I found
out I was having a girl after already having two boys, I said I
wouldn't do the pink thing since I'm not really very girly myself.
Well, my friends, I was wrong. This girl has so much pink! When
I first washed all of her clothes a few days before she was born,
the lint filter in the dryer was totally pink! Now I even seem to
look for pink stuff for her when I'm shopping, which I swore I wouldn't
do. By
the way, now that our daughter is a champion walker and doesn't
need the "boots," she is sporting very sweet white sandals
for summer! |
