Baby parenting
requires sufficient knowledge and awareness even on minute matters
associated with a newborn. A baby can be pretty delicate so be very
cautious with skin care, diet, and sleep patterns. We can see general
skin problems associated with newborns such as acne, gerbils, cradle
craps and rashes. Here are some points which you need to keep in
mind while parenting your newborns and infants.
Taking care
of baby skin: This is the main factor to be considered in baby parenting
as the skin is the protective shield that readily gets in touch
with the new environment. It has great adaptability to adverse environments
but requires special care. The baby's skin, being so delicate, gets
infected easily so you need to wash the baby cloths in special mild
detergents.
There is a chance
for baby skin to become dry very quickly. Therefore, the application
of a mild baby moisturizing lotion or cream is recommended. Keep
your baby away from bacterial infections by using one or two drops
of antiseptic lotion to the bathing water. Use clean diapers and
clothes to avoid irritation and skin allergies.
Taking care
of the umbilical cord: Before and after the umbilical cord falls
off, maintain cleanliness around the area to avoid future hassles
of infection. Apply some antiseptic powder or alcohol with hygienic
cotton.
Taking care
of the head: A baby's head includes soft hair and requires
sufficient care to avoid infection. You can use natural mild baby
shampoos to clean the soft hair and head. Take care of the soft
and delicate scalp whenever you perform the act of bathing your
infant. Remember, the baby's skull has not fully developed so be
cautious when dealing with the top of the head.
Sunburns and
rashes: The skin has a natural ability to adapt to any environment
but you should try to keep the baby away from direct sunlight for
a prolonged period in order to avoid heat rashes and sunburns. Sunburns
affect the skin more at young ages, and babies really have a hard
time sleeping when they are uncomfortable.
Use of diapers:
Most of the babies require diapers as they wet frequently but the
parents should take utmost consideration while using the diapers.
You need to change six to eight diapers daily to avoid rashes and
infections. Use only a branded diaper to give more comfort to your
infant. If you find any diaper rash with your baby, immediately
consult a pediatrician and find remedy to the problem at the earliest
signs, as the baby skin is very sensitive. There can also be signs
of rashes due to dietary allergies, yeast infections prolonged use
of diaper, or even teething.
Growth spurts
in babies: Most commonly seen after 10 days of baby birth, growth
spurts occurs immediately after a prolonged sleepy day or a hungry
appetite. The growth spurts can be found at third, sixth and twelfth
weeks and sometimes occurs at fourth and sixth months. If you find
that your infant is not satisfied with your breastfeeding alone,
you can increase the supply of milk according to the baby's requirement.
Immunizations:
Appropriate steps towards immunization is an important measure concerned
with baby parenting. We can find numerous deadly diseases that need
to be prevented by properly immunizing your infant. Consult a pediatrician
to get the awareness on immunization and the appropriate time to
give various immunizing vaccines to the baby. The immunization plays
a major role in keeping babies healthy in this modern technical
world. It helped to cut down the infant mortality rate to a high
degree and wiped out the worries with the newborns.
Use of pacifiers:
Babies are prone to suckling even after breastfeeding. You can use
a pacifier to fulfill the requirement of the baby. This offers self-satisfaction
to our little ones. Our babies are really intelligent and easily
identify the difference between a pacifier and the real deal, but
use these pacifiers to satisfy themselves. Always ensure that the
pacifiers are sterilized and free from bacteria before offering
that to the baby. Some babies hesitate to take the pacifiers and
instead stick on to their thumb. There is nothing wrong in permitting
this.
Nature of spitting
up: Almost all the babies spit at certain times, but some do this
more often than others. If you are sure that your baby is healthy,
gaining normal weight and growing at a good pace, then there is
nothing to be worried about. However, if there is any decreased
level in their metabolism, consult a pediatrician.
Baby parenting
is utmost rewarding and wonderful job for a mother. A mother knows
how to take care of her young one in a natural way. However,
with the advice of experts and experienced personalities, you can
perform the duty of baby parenting even more effectively and efficiently.
