35 Weeks Pregnant

Mom's weight gain continues--try to avoid piling on pounds in these last few weeks by doing your very best to stick to a healthy diet--not only will it will make your recovery from pregnancy's weight gain easier, but it will also strengthen your baby for his or her trip into the world!

By this week, your baby's growth is more or less complete--your baby could survive outside of the womb now. Even his or her hearing is fully developed, so go ahead and start talking!

The baby is almost 20 inches in length and just over 5 lbs.

As the baby shifts to a head-down position, also called "lightening," you may feel tingling or numbness in the pelvic region and/or back pain--this is normal. Try to adjust as best you can. Relaxation techniques like lukewarm baths (not hot) and massage may ease your discomfort here in the home stretch. For baths, remember, though, that your belly should not be submerged--just enough water to cover Mom's legs.

With the baby's new position comes more pressure on your bladder. While staying hydrated is important, you may limit your fluid intake before bedtime so your sleep won't be interrupted by bathroom breaks. It's hard enough to get a good night's sleep as it is!
