5 Weeks Pregnant

Your period is late and either this is what you were hoping for, or you're beginning to wonder whether you may be pregnant.

If you're feeling hungrier than usual and are experiencing some nausea, especially in the morning, you may very well be pregnant. A home pregnancy test (HPT) might be a good idea. HPT's measure hCG levels in your urine. During pregnancy, hCG production goes into high gear in a woman's body.

Even if an HPT result is negative, you should test again in another week to confirm whether or not you're pregnant. If you have indeed been trying to get pregnant, wait on the HPT for one more week when the results will be more accurate.

Also, if you believe you are pregnant, it's time to get in contact with your doctor--for, although your baby is only about 1/16 of an inch long, his or her organs are rapidly developing and it's important to make sure you're doing everything you can to ensure a healthy, happy pregnancy.
